How Nanotechnology Will Revolutionize Dental Care

by admin on August 19, 2009

Nanotechnology is the precise manipulation of matter at the molecular level, and this new science is changing the world, slowly but surely.  Some of the more glamorous write-ups about nanotechnology involve ‘molecular-sized’ robots coursing through our bloodstream, programmed to destroy tumors, viruses, cancer cells, but also repair faulty DNA, thereby increasing our life-span to healthier, long-lived years.
In dentistry, the day will certainly come where nanotechnology will fill that gap or space where your tooth used to be.  How?  With precisely programmed ‘nanobots’ that will literally build a new tooth within the space of a few hours!  Imagine a world without partial dentures or when even tooth implants become passe.

Fifteen years from now,  a visit to your neighborhood dental office will never be the same.  A dentist will be able to inject billions of these nanobots into the toothless area of your jaw-bone.  A moment later, the assistant will activate the nano-programmed ‘bots with a precise laser beam to initiate the scaffolding of a tooth.  Like a magic beanstalk, the nano-robots will ‘grow’  that perfect molar, forever cavity-free AND wear-free.   And within hours!  Estimates of arrival where this science fiction marvel becomes science fact are as early as 2022-2025.

So stay tuned for a healthier mouth, and a healthier you!
